North Berwick Trust Ltd is pleased to open up for general grant applications from Wednesday 27th March 2024.

Applications are welcome from North Berwick organisations, charities and individuals.

Grants of up to £32,000 are available for projects and initiatives that meet one or more of the Trust’s funding themes, with up to two years to claim grants awarded.

The Trust’s funding themes are:

•           To support and enhance recreational, cultural and sporting activities and facilities for our community.

•           To support and enhance educational and lifelong learning opportunities for our community.

•            To conserve and enhance the natural environment and public green space in North Berwick, and improve the sustainability of our community.

•            To conserve and enhance the historic and built environment of North Berwick.

•            To help those in need in our community.

The closing date for applications for a general grant in this current round is Wednesday 8th May 2024 at 12 noon.

To date, the Trust has awarded over £1.4 million to support charities, local groups and individuals living or operating within North Berwick with 191 projects being delivered in total.

General Grant rounds are offered twice-yearly, usually in the spring and autumn.

In 2023, a total of £309,010 was awarded in grants to support 32 local projects. A new multi-year funding option was added to North Berwick Trust’s grant offerings in August 2023, which is now available to apply for at each autumn general grant round only.  Multi-year funding offers the opportunity to apply for any amount up to £32,000 per year for three years, giving a maximum available grant of £96,000 over the term. Funds up to £32,000 are available in this current spring round, available to claim within 2 years. Organisations seeking multi-year funding, should wait until the Trust’s autumn 2024 grants round to apply.

The projects supported are very diverse and benefit a wide cross-section of the community. In 2023 they included £12,700 to support Beach Wheelchairs to purchase a second powered wheelchair, enabling more people to enjoy North Berwick’s beaches together; Master Partner sponsorship of Fringe By The Sea in a multi-year funding deal, committing support over three years totalling £96,000; and a £31,219 grant to Enjoy Leisure to install a Poolpod platform lift for those with restricted mobility, to provide safe and dignified access to North Berwick Sports Centre swimming pool for all users.

If you are a member of an organisation in North Berwick with a funding shortage or you are an individual in need, please consider applying to the Trust.
