North Berwick Trust’s Forever Fund

The Trust welcomes applications from North Berwick organisations, charities and individuals.

The Forever Fund is usually open for applications twice-yearly, each spring and autumn.

This fund will open twice in 2024: 

Spring 2024

Open for applications from Wednesday 27th March. 

Deadline Wednesday 8th May at 12 noon. 

Autumn 2024

Open for applications from Wednesday 21st August. 

Deadline Wednesday 2nd October at 12 noon. 

The Trust welcomes applications from North Berwick organisations, charities and individuals.

Grants of up to £32,000 with a two year term are available for projects and initiatives that deliver against the Trust’s funding themes.

A multi-year funding option is available in the autumn grant round each year for longer term projects. Up to £32,000 per year for a total of three years is available, giving a maximum grant of £96,000.

Please note that North Berwick Trust will not consider applications for grants out with the normal grants timetable other than in the most exceptional circumstances. However, potential applicants can approach the Trust to seek advice at any time.

FAQS

There are two levels of grants:
Level 1 – up to and including £3,000.
Level 2 – over £3,000 to a maximum of £32,000.

Grants are available to claim up to two years from the date of the award. 

In the autumn grants round, a third level is available for longer-term projects:

Level 3 – up to £32,000 per year for 3 consecutive years is available, giving a maximum grant of £96,000. 

The Trust will consider applications for funding that deliver against one or more of the Trust’s funding themes. These are:

  • To support and enhance recreational, cultural and sporting activities and facilities for our community
  • To support and enhance educational and lifelong learning opportunities for our community
  • To conserve and enhance the natural environment and public green space in North Berwick, and improve the sustainability of our community
  • To conserve and enhance the historic and built environment of North Berwick
  • To help those in need in our community

Individuals applying for support:

  • Must be over the age of 16 and proposing or participating in an organised project or activity which meets the Trust’s criteria (it’s funding themes);
  • Must have a bank account in the name of your group or organisation
  • Must submit their application by 12 noon on Wednesday 8th May 2024. 

Prior to submitting your application, please check that you have:

  1. Completed the Organisation Information Sheet.
  2. Completed sections A,B,E and F of the application form if you applying for funding of up to £3,000 (Level 1).
  3. Completed all sections if you are applying for funding of between £3,000 to £32,000 (Level 2).
  4. Provided all required supporting information.
  5. If you are applying for Level 3 funding, please read the multi-year funding guidance notes.  

The deadline for submissions for the next general grants round is Wednesday 8th May 2024. All submissions are then assessed, and recommendations made to the North Berwick Trust Limited Board at its next board meeting. Applicants can expect to receive notification of the outcome of their application shortly after this meeting.

Once the grant is awarded, the applicant will have a period of 24 months to complete their project and make a grant claim for Level 1 and 2 applications.

The terms and conditions of grants will be determined by the trustees of North Berwick Trust Limited.
