North Berwick Trust Ltd is pleased to offer three funding opportunities, currently open for applications.
Community grants, young person’s scholarships and capital grants are all available from the North Berwick based charitable trust.
Forever Fund General Grants
Applications of up to £32,000 to the Trust’s general fund are welcome from North Berwick based organisations, charities and individuals in need.
Grants are available for projects and initiatives that meet one or more of the Trust’s funding themes, with up to two years to claim grants awarded.
The Trust’s funding themes are:
- To support and enhance recreational, cultural and sporting activities and facilities for our community.
- To support and enhance educational and lifelong learning opportunities for our community.
- To conserve and enhance the natural environment and public green space in North Berwick and improve the sustainability of our community.
- To conserve and enhance the historic and built environment of North Berwick.
- To help those in need in our community.
Young Person’s Scholarship
North Berwick Trust welcomes applications to the Young Person’s Scholarship from young people aged 14 – 25 who live or study in North Berwick and who meet the criteria. Grants of up to £10,000 in total are available.
This scholarship is open to young people seeking support to embark on further education or career training. This includes those with specific ambitions to further their careers in sport, music and art or other cultural or creative endeavours.
This fund is designed to assist our young people to move their life forward in a positive way. Priority is given to those who could not afford to do so without support.
Both the general fund and young person’s scholarship are open for applications until Wednesday 23rd April.
Capital Grants
North Berwick Trust opened its capital grants programme in 2023 to provide funding support for large scale development projects in North Berwick.
North Berwick Trust defines a capital grant in relation to this grant programme as:
‘Funding for the purchase, refurbishment or re-purposing of existing buildings, or for proposed new buildings for community benefit, or for other elements of the physical infrastructure of North Berwick. Funding applications may include pre-construction development phases.’
Funding of not normally more than £100,000 per project is available for projects that deliver against the Trust’s funding themes. At least 50% of the necessary funds are expected to be raised from other sources, either through your own fundraising, co-funding or match funding.
The Trust welcomes applications to the capital grant fund at any time, but please note that applications will only be considered at the Trust board meetings which occur 4 times per year. Organisations are also only permitted to apply for funds once during any 12-month period.
